Background and History

The Wireless LAN War Driving Survey is the core component of SafeWiFi Project, organized by Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) and Professional Information Security Association (PISA). Started from 2002, information security experts from the two associations take tram every year to scan the Access Points (AP) along the route in Hong Kong Island, in order to count the number of WiFi hotspots and check their level of security. These data help to analyze the level of awareness on WiFi security by public and SafeWiFi Project will make suggestion to improve accordingly.
